The opposition Congress on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Chief Executive Member Benedic R Marak with regard to the current imbroglio and problems in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council Office.
Signed by 11 MDCs, the memorandum has requested the CEM to find alternative ways and means to clear the long pending dues of the employees of GHADC office as soon as possible.
“….the undersigned elected representatives of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council hereby would like to request you to find alternative ways and means to clear the long pending dues of the employees of our GHADC office as soon as possible,” the Memorandum states.
The 11 signatories to the memorandum are MDCs Ashahel D Shira (Batabari), Cherak W Momin (Kharkutta), Sadhiarani M Sangma (Dengnakpara), Nehru D Sangma (Amongpara), Alphonsush Marak (Williamnagar), Pardinand D Shira (Damas), Rinaldo K Sangma (Rongrong), Lahitson M Sangma (Samandagre),Agassi Marak (Balachanda), Sanjay Koch (Betasing) and Habibuz Zaman (Shyamnagar).
Requesting the CEM to end the current deadlock in which the autonomous body has been unable to function for almost five long months, the memorandum state, “It is not only the employees of GHADC office who are suffering but due to the Council administration office remaining defunct, business houses, citizens and Garo Hills as a whole is facing the brunt. Therefore, we urge you to kindly take necessary steps to ensure the restart and smooth functioning of the GHADC office and alleviate the problems of the people of Garo Hills.”
