Congress gears up for GHADC poll

The opposition Congress is all gearing up for the upcoming election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) with all its 29 candidates have filed their nomination papers.

“Yes, everybody. All our candidates have (successfully) filed their nomination papers,” Congress working president James  Lyngdoh said on Sunday.

Stating that the party is fully prepared, Lyngdoh said, “We are (quite) positive”.

When asked, the working president said the party will soon release its election manifesto.

“Very soon we will come up with the election manifesto….we have completed everything but we need to sit for another one round before coming up with the manifesto,” he said while adding the party will try its best to do it within this week.

The last date of filing of nomination for the upcoming election to the GHADC is on Monday till 3 pm, while the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council on April 12 and the counting of votes on April 15.
