Minister Incharge of Tourism Paul Lyngdoh said the department of tourism will invite the Expression of Interest for the Shillong ropeway project by August this year.
Talking to the media in Shillong, Lyngdoh said the project will start by November.
“We should be in a position to have EOI by August this year and the project will be idlly by November,” the Minister said.
“We will complete it within 3 years,” he added.
The Shillong ropeway project is an ambitious project costing around Rs 140 crore funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The state Government is planning to make this one of largest ropeway projects in North East India where we expect very heavy footfall of tourists and tourism will emerge as the single biggest employment avenue for people here in Meghalaya.
