A coordination meeting of all agencies regarding issues related to border management on the International Border was held at BOP Ghumaghat on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by T. Lyngwa, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills.
Representatives from various agencies attended the meeting, including:
- Sh. Rajiv Kumar, Commandant, 193 Bn BSF
- Sh. G.D. Kharwanlang, IPS, Superintendent of Police, SWKH
- Sh. L. Kynjing, ADC, Ranikor
- Mr. R. Marwein, BDO, Ranikor
- Mr. D. Kyndiah, Executive Engineer, PWD, Ranikor
- Mr. P. Langstein, Superintendent, Customs
- Sh C.H. Marak, Circle Inspector, Ranikor
- Sh Jasmeet Singh, AC , Coy Cmdr BSF
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including:
- Smuggling of sugar and other items, and the efforts by all agencies to curb these activities
- Functioning issues of the Border Haat
- Development of infrastructure at the Border Haat and repair of connecting roads on the border
- Implementation of Section 144 CrPC along the International Border
All stakeholders assured their commitment to coordinate and cooperate to address and mitigate the issues related to border management effectively.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with a vote of thanks by the ADC, Ranikor, South West Khasi Hills District.
