Court of JMFC remands BJP vice President Bernard Marak to 6 more days police custody


​Judicial Magistrate First Class in Tura has remanded BJP Vice President and Tura MDC Bernard N Marak to six more days’ police custody.

Informing this, West Garo Hills SP VS Rathore said, “….Court of JMFC, Tura has remanded Bernard N. Marak @Rimpu into 6 more days’ police custody as prayed by the IO.”



Bernard is currently under custody of Tura police since July 28.

Earlier, the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Tura had sent Bernard Marak to 8 days police custody after he was picked up from Hapur city of Uttar Pradesh and brought back to Tura by the Special​​ Team of Meghalaya police.  He was arrested following a lookout notice issued.

A case under sections of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956 was registered against him with the Tura women police station. Later Police added Section 370 (3) IPC.

On July 22, West Garo Hills police had busted a prostitution racket in the private farm house run by the BJP MDC which led to the arrest of 73 persons and rescue of 5 children besides seizure of liquors and unused contraceptives.
