The state has witnessed a drop in the daily COVID-19 tally on Saturday. The detection of only two new cases was the lowest in December even as more patients have recovered from the viral infection.
Three more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 138, while, 45 patients have recovered from the viral infection in the last 24 hours pushing the total recoveries to 12,985.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said 33 persons were declared recovered in East Khasi Hills district, 07 West Jaintia Hills district, 02 in West Garo Hills, 01 each in East Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, and South West Garo Hills.
Of the 02 new cases detected, he said 01 each from East Khasi Hills and South West Garo hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,371 COVID-19 cases out of which 248 are active cases, 12,985 recovered, and 138 deaths.
With the high recovery rate in the past few weeks, active cases in East Khasi Hills district have reduced to 181, West Khasi Hills 05, Ri Bhoi District 32, West Jaintia Hills 04, West Garo Hills 16, South West Garo Hills 04, South Garo Hills 01, East Garo Hills 03, North Garo hills 02, however, no positive cases is there is South West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills district.
“Till date, swab samples of 2, 86,979 persons have been tested of which 2, 73,608 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 76,309 entrants from outside the state.
