The death toll due to COVID-19 has increased to 108 after two more patients succumbed to the viral infection on Saturday.
The state has also witnessed a surge in the new cases after 117 more persons have tested positive, pushing the total active cases in the state to 925.
Haricharan Das 45 yrs/M, from Lower New Colony, Shillong test Covid 19 Positive on 18-11-2020. He was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on 19-11-2020 at 2.15 AM, however, at 3 am the patient expired. He was diagnosed with Covid 19 with Type I Respiratory Failure with Multiple Seizures with Status Epilepticus with Aspiration Pneumonia.
The second person was 5-year old Alphinia Umsong (F) a resident of Mawkhap, Pynursla, in East Khasi Hills district. She was admitted to Ganesh Das Govt. MCH Hospital on 20-11-2020 at 12.03 PM. Tested positive for coronavirus on the same day and died at 2.55 PM. She was diagnosed with Acute Gastroenteritis with Severe Dehydration with Covid 19.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 117 new cases 53 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 47 in West Garo Hills, eight from East Garo Hills, five from South West Garo Hills, two from East Jaintia Hills and one each from Ri-Bhoi and West Khasi Hills.
Of the 78 new recovered cases – 24 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, twelve West Garo Hills, nine in West Jaintia Hills, seven in Ri-Bhoi, three in East Jaintia Hills, two in South West Garo Hills, and one in North Garo Hills.
Till date, the State has registered 11,269 COVID-19 cases, of which 925 are active, 108 deceased, and 10,236 have recovered.
At present, East Khasi Hills once again topped the COVID 19 active tally with 427 cases, followed by West Garo Hills which has 229 active cases, East Garo Hills 72 cases, Ri Bhoi district which initially showed a massive increase in COVID tally now has 58 active cases, South Garo Hills has 36 cases and South West Garo Hills 32 cases, West Khasi Hills 27 cases, West Jaintia Hills 13 and East Jaintia Hills 22, North Garo Hills 09 cases and South West Khasi Hills has no active cases as of now.
