After maintaining a low Covid 19 positive rate in the state for a while, Sunday witness a sudden spike in the covid 19 positive cases with 136 new cases reported in the last 24 hours taking the number of active cases to 1,605. The state has also recorded a recovery of 104 COVID-19 patients.
One person succumbed to the infectious virus, with this the death toll rise to 81.
The deceased identified as Manibala Debbarma 27/female from Sayadachara, Kumarghat, North Tripura admitted in NEIGRIHMS on 19-10-20 and died on 23.10.20
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said, that the cause of death was Refractory Septic Shock with Severe Sepsis, Covid Positive with Autoimmune Haemolytic Anaemia with Chronic Kidney disease. Since, the patient, tested positive in Shillong, hence death counted in Meghalaya.
The new 136 cases include 76 from Ri Bhoi district, 39 from East Khasi Hills district, 08 West Garo Hills district, 07 from East Jaintia Hills district, 03 from North Garo Hills district, 01 each from South West Garo Hills district, South Garo Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
Among 104 new recoveries, 73 from East Khasi Hills, 02 from West Khasi Hills district, 02 from West Jaintia Hills district, 02 from North Garo Hills district, 02 from East Garo Hills district, 08 from East Jaintia Hills district, 01 from Ri Bhoi district, 09 West Garo Hills district and 05 from South Garo Hills district.
Till date, Meghalaya has registered a total of 8,914 COVID 19 cases out of which 1,605 are active, 81 died, and 7,228 recoveries.
