With the detection of 41 new COVID19 positive cases and the recovery of 43 more persons, the number of active COVID19 positive cases in Meghalaya now stands at 430.
This came a day after the state had witnessed detection of only five cases, which is the lowest in the past 10 months ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases include 37 from East Khasi Hills district, 2 West Garo Hills district, 1 Ri Bhoi district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.
He said those who tested positive include 10 health workers, 4 armed force/paramilitary force personnel, 4 high-risk contacts and 2 returnees from East Khasi Hills.
Of the 43 patients who have recovered from the viral infection, Dr War said 26 are from West Jaintia Hills, 7 East Khasi Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi, 1 North Garo Hills, 1 West Garo Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,299 COVID-19 cases out of which 430 are active cases, 12,735 recovered and 134 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 293 positive cases, West Jaintia Hills 52, Ri Bhoi 31, West Garo Hills 29, South West Garo Hills 5, East Garo Hills 5, East Jaintia Hills 3, South Garo Hills 4, West Khasi Hills 5 and North Garo Hills 3.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,81,866 persons have been tested of which 2,68,567 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 75,227 entrants from outside the state.
