COVID 19 vaccination: Meghalaya begins booster dose


A total of 2375 ‘precaution dose’ were administered on the first day. Amid rising COVID 19 cases in the state, Meghalaya on Monday launched the booster dose vaccination against COVID-19 for health workers, frontline workers and people aged above 60 with comorbidities.

Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya Smti. M. N. Nampuii being administered with the precautionary dose of the Covid 19 vaccine at the Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, Shillong on Monday.

The vaccination drive marked the commencement of precautionary dose of COVID-19 vaccination for Health and Frontline workers and 60+ with comorbid conditions.

Leading the way, Dr E L Kharmutee, DMCHO & DIO has taken the Precautionary dose on Monday at U Soso Tham Auditorium.

Later, On the precaution dose, the chief minister said the government is working on it and that a lot of people have come forward for the booster dose which has just started for the 60 years and above and frontline workers.

With the vaccination percentage crossing 70 percent in the state, he said the government is really going aggressive with the vaccination drive.


“We are hopeful that based on the election mode vaccination drive we are able to cover more and more population in the state,” he added.
