COVID-19 vaccination started by Border Security Force at Umpling, Shillong

A total of 83 health care workers have been vaccinated on Monday at the Border Security Force (BSF) Composite hospital, Umpling.
In a press statement, BSF said, “The first phase of the vaccination has been aimed at covering the health care workers across the country.”
“ In pursuance to this, the health workers of BSF Umpling and Mawpat which involves Doctors and Paramedics have been vaccinated today at BSF Composite Hospital Umpling,” the press communique added.
Calling the Nationwide roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine has been a historic and proud movement for each and every citizen of the country, BSF said, that it has given a positive direction in the yearlong fight against the deadly CORONA virus.
Dr. Ashok Rai, DIG(Med)/MS, CH BSF, Shillong stated that it is a proud movement for all of us.
“We should continue to take all precautions because the fight against the COVID-19 virus is not over yet. It’s not that the vaccine will immediately render the virus ineffective and everything will be normal in a day,” BSF stated.
Stating that the vaccination programme will take time to complete, he said “Hence it is important to maintain the protocol issued by the health department and to maintain social distancing norms, wearing of mask, hand sanitization, etc.”
After completion of the vaccination for health workers, the front line workers of BSF will be vaccinated shortly, he added.
