Covid-19 vaccine: States to submit lists of priority population says Harsh Vardhan

Working in advance Meghalaya Govt has prepared lists of all front-line workers, health workers beside other residents who will receive the medicine.
Although the state is yet to get any communication from the centre to submit it, however, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed that acting fast the state has prepared the priority list.” We haven’t received anything from the centre, but we are prepared, if they ask today we can send it by tomorrow,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

“We have not received the official communication to date but the data is already in place be it Anganwadi, Asha or the Health Workers or Frontline workers everything is in place,” Tynsong said. Meanwhile, the Union health ministry has asked states to submit a list of priority populations who will be first to receive the Covid-19 vaccine by October end. The information was given by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in a recent social media interaction; he said priority would be given to health workers engaged in COVID-19 management in getting the vaccine.
Admitting having knowledge about  this, Tynsong said, “I have seen this on social media and TV News, we are prepared with the lists.”
The Union Health Minister during a social media interaction said a high-level expert group is going into all the aspects of vaccines and the health ministry is preparing a format in which states will submit lists of priority population groups. The Union Minister also said prioritization of groups to be vaccinated shall be based on two key considerations, first is an occupational hazard, and risk of exposure to infection shall be prioritized followed by those at risk of developing severe disease. As the world prepares for a vaccine against Covid-19, the country has started identifying crore priority beneficiaries.
