The rate of COVID-19 infection has been touching new heights almost every single day in the state. While 156 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total number of active cases to 2,437.

One more person succumbs to this deadly virus with this the death toll has risen to 62. One Pulsan Dalu, 42 yrs Male from Police Reserve, Williamnagar died yesterday. Dalu, AB Constable, MLP was admitted to Civil Hospital, Williamnagar yesterday morning at 6.10 AM. Later he was diagnosed with COVID positive. However, at around 12:45 PM the patient expires. He was diagnosed with ARDS with COVID 19 with Bronchial Asthma with Hypertension.

In the last 24 hours, 142 people also recovered which include 83 from East Khasi Hills, 31 from Ri Bhoi, 18 from West Jaintia Hills, 08 from West Garo Hills, 08 from South West Khasi Hills, 03 from South Garo Hills, 02 from South West Garo Hills, one each from North Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.

Presently, the total number of cases in East Khasi hills stands at 1,722, while West Khasi Hills it’s 4, South West Khasi Hills 31, Ribhoi district records 320, West Jaintia Hills 58, East Jaintia Hills 31, West Garo Hills 161, South West Garo Hills 38, South Garo Hills 34, East Garo Hills 12 and Northeast Garo Hills 26.

The total number of cases so far is 7,544 of which 5045 have been recovered.
