With three COVID 19 positive cases detected in Shillong District jail, the state health Department has decided to conduct vaccination for jail inmates against COVID 19 virus very soon.

“We are already in communication with the prison authority to collect the number of people who need the vaccination as there are a lot of people who are already 45 years and above in the (different) prisons,” Director Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters on Wednesday.

“The capacity of the prisons and how many people in each cell that also we are taking into consideration,” he said.

The DHS however said they are taking all precautions as they are already there inside so the question of them becoming positive will not arise.
