Meet the youngest minister of the Conrad Sangma cabinet, Dasakhiatbha Lamare, the 27 year old son of former MLA Ngaitlang Dhar. His uncle Sniawbhalang Dhar is also in the cabinet.
Lamare is a legislator from Mawhati constituency in Ri Bhoi district. The first time MLA is the youngest legislator in the Assembly and is associated with the National People’s Party.
Lamare 27, now is the youngest minister in the 12-member Cabinet, followed by UDP MLA from Khliehriat constituency, Kyrmen Shylla.
Shylla, 31, took oath as minister at the age of 29 when the MDA government was formed on March 6, 2018 after the Assembly elections.
After taking over as the 12th man in the MDA cabinet, Dasakhiat expressed his thankfulness to the Chief Minister for giving him the opportunity to serve the state as a cabinet minister.
“I also expressed my gratefulness to Comingone Ymbon for his willingness to pave the way for me to be inducted in the cabinet,” the MLA said, adding he also hoped that the induction of the new faces will further help in strengthening the MDA government.
Dasakhiat, who is also the son of a former Umroi legislator, Ngaitlang Dhar, further assured that he would give his best to serve the state especially due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as Ri Bhoi, a district which according to him requires a lot of attention.
With the induction of Lamare into the Cabinet, Mawhati constituency was given the ministerial berth after several years.
