The Deputy Commissioners of all the five districts of Garo Hills are asked to review and submit a report on the poor performance of students in the SSLC examinations conducted by MBOSE.
Minister in-charge of education Rakkam A Sangma on Friday said the Deputy Commissioners are asked to submit their report within a month
“….objective was to review the low performance of schools in the last SSLC examination from Garo Hills region, not only for this year but we also have reviewed for the last 4-5 years also, because we have not seen any improvement because several measures were taken up,” the Education Minister said.
Recently he, along with Adviser to the Education Department HM Shangpliang, reviewed the poor result of the SSLC and HSLC examinations conducted by MBOSE in Tura.
“We have instructed all the deputy commissioners of the districts and the education officers to go especially to the schools which has zero performance or low performance schools just to meet the teachers, managements and the students to encourage, to motivate and to suggest to the Government that within one month what steps can be taken,” Sangma said.
He said the state Government is sending all the deputy commissioners and the education officers at the district level to the schools that have low performance in SSA examination.
Asked, he clarified, “We not here to punish them but the DCs and officers will go to review the situation at the ground level and suggest to the Government what measures can be taken up. Maybe these schools need support so whatever the suggestion is given the state Government will certainly look into the matter and we have instructed the deputy commissioners to give us the report within one month.”
“Depending on the report of the DCs we will examine what measures need to be taken for the improvement. We will examine all these and the Govt will take the necessary measures,” the Minister said.
