De-facto PM from Guwahati run all the NE states: Mamata Banerjee

In a bid to counter the NPP and BJP campaign against TMC as an ‘outsider’ party, All India Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today lashed out saying Northeast is being run by a ‘de-facto’  PM from Guwahati. Hinting at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma without taking his name, Banerjee said people of the state must commit that they will never bow their head to anyone.

Sarma is credited with the success BJP and its allies have got in the Northeast do far.

Mamata Banerjee said, “Why should a de-facto prime minister from Guwahati run all the North-Eastern regions? People must commit to that this time, no matter what proposals come from MDA and BJP; they will not bow their heads to anyone. This time, they will restore the pride and glory for the future of the younger generation of Meghalaya, for women empowerment, for farmers, for the media, and for all people irrespective of their caste, community, and creed.”

Promising to transform Meghalaya Mamata added, “BJP is a double-faced party which promises something at the time of elections and does something else after polls.”

Banerjee said while addressing a public meeting in North Garo Hills district in poll-bound Meghalaya, “Why they cannot sorted out   the land dispute issue? No electricity here. There are so many areas where electricity has not reached.”

Claiming that Trinamool Congress is the only party that has the mindset and ability to provide better governance in Meghalaya, which according to her has enormous potentiality and scope to develop tourism and to solve unemployment problems, the TMC chief said.

“What has this MDA government done in the past five years ? We challenge them to show their report card on what they did in the past five years. Why is it that after so many years, electricity hasn’t reached most parts of Meghalaya ? Why is the younger generation not getting any employment opportunities ?”

Banerjee said that in the upcoming assembly elections, the TMC would come to power to empower the people, uphold the culture, celebrate the sacred land of Meghalaya, and remove the proxy BJP government, which is corrupt and hasn’t done anything for the people.
