Detailed Project Report (DPR), Design finalized as the State Government is mulling to convert the Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) complex at Police Bazar into a Multipurpose complex with varieties of amenities.
Informing about this, , Minister incharge of Transport Dasakhiat Lamare on Wednesday said, “DPR , designs everything is there, as soon as possible the work is likely to start. The time period of completion is 24 months from the day of allotment of work,”
Giving further inputs to it, the Minister said, “This is a multipurpose property there will be so many things inside this property which will create lot of revenue for the department.”
Asked about people who are doing business in that property being unhappy, the Minister denied having any knowledge stating, “I have not heard about anybody complaining, I will find out if at all its there we will try for the best solution but the project has to go on.”
Earlier in June, the Cabinet had also approved the proposal of the Urban Affairs department for availing a loan from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Bank (HUDCO) for this purpose. The project will be commercial driven of course there will be a tourism aspect to it.
“There will be banquet halls, there will be accommodations, there will be restaurants etc that will create revenue for the government,” Lamare said.
According to him, the land has been lying idle for so many years. He said the re-development project aims at enabling the MTC to stand its own feet.
The Government is awaiting the completion of the Inter State Bus Terminus at Mawiong to take up the project of converting the MTC complex into a Multipurpose complex.
