Health Minister Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh has welcomed a significant healthcare boost as Oil India Limited approved a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant of ₹2.5 crore to the Dishayen Foundation for the installation of advanced CO2 diode machines in the Oncology Department of Tura Civil Hospital. The initiative aims to enhance cancer treatment facilities and alleviate the financial burden on patients in Meghalaya.
“We are very grateful a private entity of this calibre has noticed the need for infrastructure building and has offered a CSR to assist the government of Meghalaya to set the oncology here at Civil Hospital Tura,” said Dr. Lyngdoh. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access, she added, “We need treatment and installation procurement of technological infrastructure to enable our people to ease out their out-of-pocket expenditure. This government remains focused. How can we help the public reduce the cost of treatment? That is the top priority for us.”
She highlighted the long-term impact of such collaborations, stating, “In this generous engagement of Oil India in enabling us to institutionalize the correct infrastructural requirements for oncology treatment and other such critical treatments, it will go a long way for the people of Meghalaya.” She also acknowledged the growing role of Tura Civil Hospital in cancer care, adding, “We have seen how Civil Hospital, in its Cancer Hospital, has been able to reach out and address and fight the onslaught of cancer in the state.”
Looking ahead, Dr. Lyngdoh expressed optimism about future CSR partnerships, saying, “We have seen all the numbers. We know the challenge. We invest or seek investment for treating such a challenge, and we are thankful as a Department of Health, thankful as a government of Meghalaya that this has happened. And we hope that in years to come, we will have more CSR assistance of this kind.” She reaffirmed the government’s proactive approach, stating, “Our healthcare is stepping up to the needs and requirements of the people of this state. Wherever we see a possibility of bringing in funds and negotiating for investments, we do it in the interest of the state and the people of Meghalaya.”
