The state Cabinet has approved the draft Meghalaya Procurement Preference Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises, 2020.

After the meeting held on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “Now we are going to repeal the previous preferential act by putting in place this Meghalaya Procurement Preference Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises, 2020.”

He said under the previous act, 10 percent preference was given to local entrepreneurs who produced items needed in the different departments of the government.

On the other hand, Tynsong said that the decision was also in line with the Government of India that micro and small enterprises should be set up in respective states to encourage the use of their products.
