East Garo Hills police rescues kidnapped 57 year old vegetable vendor Hanif Ali


In a major breakthrough, the special operations team of the East Garo Hills district police have successfully rescued a vegetable vendor from Assam who was kidnapped by a gang of kidnappers from Nongchram village on March 23rd midnight.

57 year old Hanif Ali, a vegetable vendor was sleeping in Mahabel Marak’s house when an unknown person entered the house and took him away.

East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Bruno A Sangma said, “A Complaint was lodged at Rongjeng police station on 24th evening.”

On receiving the information East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police launched a search operation after collecting information from available sources.

“Today at around 1.30 pm operation team led by Dysp Anthony Ch Momin entered Dimit Chikamagre and busted the hideout where the victim was held and rescued Hanif Ali,” Sangma said.

“The abductors fled away on seeing Ops team taking advantage of the thick jungle,” he added.

“Operation is on to nab the culprits,” the SP said.
