Meghalaya Government on Wednesday transferred East Jaintia Hills (EJH) Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagpal Singh Dhanoa and posted him as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Ri Bhoi District. While, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Ri Bhoi District Giri Prasad M is made the new SP of East Jaintia Hills.
Earlier, the Meghalaya High Court has ordered the transfer of East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagpal Singh Dhanoa for his failure to stop illegal mining and transportation of coal in East Jaintia Hills.
Meanwhile, the Home (Police) department has promoted IPS officers R Muthu and DP Marak as Inspector General of Police (IGP) with effect from Jan 1, 2024.
While, R Muthu,IPS (RR: 2006) , is on central deputation, is allowed proforma promotion with effect from the date his immediate junior Marak is promoted.
On promotion and in the interest of public service and on the recommendation of the Civil Services Board, Marak who was Deputy Inspector General of Police (SB), Shillong, has been posted as Inspector General of Police (SB/Border), Shillong, against the existing vacancy.
