East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya tops the list for e-waste generation in the state, sccording to a report. Followed by this is West Garo Hills district.
Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills SC Sadhu, recently said efforts are on to tackle the e-waste.
He said though earlier there were efforts by the state Government and the district administration but no systematic efforts in terms of bringing in all stakeholders.
Stating that the District Administration is committed, Sadhu said there is an effort on to ensure there is a proper mechanism for disposal because it’s different from the regular waste so to prepare a plan to bring all of them and prepare a system in consultation with the municipal board and in the rural areas with various traditional bodies.
