EKH police files 6 FIRs; notices sent for conducting checking of document of migrant labourers

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger on Tuesday said altogether 6 FIRs have been filed and notices are sent to pressure groups under 35 (3) BNSS for conducting checking of documents in parts of the East Khasi Hills District.

 

The East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police said, “Six cases were registered in East Khasi Hills and although no arrest was made, we have issued the notices as well.”

 

Asked, the SP said, “You have seen in the media is certain NGOs are checking in this part of East Khasi Hills, of course we have alert all our sector officers OCs and ICs in their respective​ area to ensure that oppose in event of checking by the NGOs And also to ensure that no untoward incidents should occurred to the victims or the people whoever they are checking. Here and there, there are a few incidents are there, that we cannot deny it.”

 

“Whenever assault case or any untoward incidents is taken place, we always promptly look into, we send our team and also we register a case. In this few cases have been registered and the investigation is on,” he added.

 

 

Meanwhile, despite Police action, the pressure groups have intensified checking of documents of migrant workers.
