Tura: The Wushu competition came to an exciting conclusion here on Thursday at the 5th edition of the Meghalaya Games 2024.
At the concluding event, the East Khasi Hills team came in first on the podium, in the process bagging 10 gold medals, 5 silver and 3 bronze. Ri-Bhoi District came in second with 5 gold and 2 bronze medals. In third, North Garo Hills bagged 2 gold medals, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
The authorities expressed their hopes that this humble beginning for the sport would lead to it being taken up by more people within the state. They were also motivated by the fact that on top of the teams mentioned above, many other young people from different parts of the state had podium finishes and did not return home empty-handed.
