The Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced holding of the election to the Sohiong Assembly seat on May 10.
Election in Sohiong was adjourned due to the demise of contesting candidate of United Democratic Party (L) HDR Lyngdoh on February 20.
Informing this, State Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said that the date of polling has been fixed on May 10 while date of counting on May 13.
The date of issue of gazette notification will be on April 13 and the last date for filing of nomination will be on April 20.
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on April 21 while the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on April 24.
Meanwhile, the UDP has decided to field Synsharlang Kupar Lyngdoh, who is the nephew of (L) HDR Lyngdoh as its official candidate from Sohiong constituency.
