Meghalaya Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary etc, Mr. A. L. Hek today inaugurated the 3days Star Elite Pathway training camp at SAI, NEHU, Shillong on 1st April, 2023. The camp is organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Associations (MSOA), Arms PT- Edge10- Sportality Team in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. The inaugural function was also attended by Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr. D. P. Wahlang, Mr. Ian Campbell, Olympian, 1980 Olympics, Mr. Jesper Olsen, Director, Future Football (former Denmark World Cup Player), Mr. John Kharshiing, Working President, MSOA beside others.
Speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, Mr. Hek lauded the effort of the MSOA in organising the camp which will help local athletes of the State to excel in the field of sports. He also said that it is very encouraging to see the athletes taking part in the camp and hope that they will do well and live upto the expectation of the coaches.
It may be mentioned here that in view of the positive outcome from the Phase-I, the MSOA in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs has continued with Phase-II with a mandate to test ten thousand athletes at the C & R D Block level, as on 31st March 2023 the MSOA, Arms PT- Edge10- Sportality Team has already conducted Talent ID test in 18 C & R D Block.
Top 200 participants, 100 male and 100 female based on overall digital ranking from the talent identification program phase-I have been selected to be part of the one-year elite Pathway Program.
