FCI launches Open Market Sales Scheme Domestic scheme in Meghalaya

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) today launched the Open Market Sales Scheme Domestic (OMSSD) scheme in order to allow the auction of Rice and Wheat in the open market on a weekly basis.

 

Speaking to media persons, general manager of FCI S.K Yadav said that this OMSSD schemes aims to keep check on the prices of both the commodities for the benefit of the common public and consumers.

 

Yadav informed that the storage capacity under the North East Frontier (NEF) region increased more than 40% in the last three years i.e. from 87070 MT to 122636 MT.

 

He added that the food storage of around 88000 MT storage capacities will be constructed in different parts of Meghalaya and other parts of North Eastern states under OMSSD and various schemes.

 

“Since 2020, around 7.5 lakh metric tons food grains free of cost under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) scheme and 100% fortified rice under NFSA, other welfare schemes and OMSS (D) to ensure food and Nutritional security were distributed till December 2022” said Yadav.
