The members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) on Wednesday stormed the office of the director of printing and stationery and demanded his resignation on allegation that he had misused funds of Rs 2.9 crore.
Speaking to media persons, FKJGP publicity secretary Reginald Thabah said that the federation was compelled to storm the office since the chief minister had failed to suspend the director of printing and stationary Salgira R Marak.
Thabah informed that the federation earlier had sent a letter to chief minister to suspend the director within ten days for allegation of misappropriating funds of Rs 2.9 crore but till date neither the chief minister nor the state government had taken any action on this demand.
“In a letter to the chief minister, we have demanded from the state government to either transfer or suspend the director within ten days, but since we have not seen any action from their part, today we have asked the director to vacate his office immediately” said Thabah.
Thabah said that the federation has no grudge against the director but since an RTI report indicates misappropriation of funds worth Rs. 2.9 crores, the federation felt it is necessary for the director to cooperate and leave the office for a fair departmental enquiry.
