The opposition Congress is all set to announce the list of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) next month.
Congress spokesman and Rangsakona legislator Zenith Sangma said that the party is fully prepared to face the elections.
“We will announce the list of candidates next month. We are also coming up with the party’s manifesto for the GHADC elections.”
Asked, Sangma said that the Congress being the biggest and oldest political party will definitely contest from all the 29 seats.
“Obviously, we will field candidates from all 29 seats and (we are having) lots of aspiring candidates in almost every constituency (who are interested in contesting) the elections,” he said.
On the other hand, the Congress leader has expressed disappointment on the delay to hold the GHADC polls.
“The decision to hold the elections should have been taken earlier so that the election process could be completed within March,” he stated.
