Governor need more time to examine amended MRSSA 2019.

With much being talked about the amendment Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2019, Meghalaya Governor requested little more time to go through the act.
This was informed by Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh after meeting Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday.
The speaker who met Governor to discuss the amendment to Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act 2019 said, “He (Governor) has requested and me that he will need little more time to just have a full examination on the matter before giving his assent.”
He added, “He (Governor) has expressed himself first and foremost with regards to the amendment of the Meghalaya Residence Safety and security Act 2019 which is subject related to the state.”
“He has assured and keeping in mind that the amendment is very useful and very helpful and at the same time it is required for state likes us to have such kind of Act to ensure that it will take care of people of the state,” Lyngdoh said.
In response to Opposition Congress’ demand for recalling the amendment and implementing the principal act, once it is passed in the house it has to be followed up.
“The amended MRSSA 2019 which was passed in the house that was passed in the house not by the Government only but passed by all the members in the house though it was passed after lots of debates from here and there,” he said adding, “I feel once it is passed in the house that has to be followed up to see that it is assent by the office of the Governor.”
It may be mentioned that a three-member Congress delegation visited Governor Satyapal Malik on Thursday where they suggested the need to recall the MRSS (Amendment) Bill, 2020 in order that the MRSSA passed in 2016 can be implemented in its original form.
