Minister in-charge Education Rakkam A Sangma has informed that the government is waiting for the Governor to give his assent to the Captain Williamson Sangma State University (Amendment) Bill, 2023, passed in the Assembly during the last budget session.
Hopeful of starting the academic session from 2024-25, the Education Minister said, once the state Government receives the accent of the Governor, the Government will move forward with the recruitment of all the faculty members.
“The first State Assembly Bill was passed in the Assembly but the assent of the Governor is still awaited,” Sangma said.
“The infrastructure is already at the advance stage and we are hoping if the things goes well, from the next academic session that means from 2024 we are expecting to start the academic session. For the state University the Governor’s assent is still awaited,” he added.
The Government is planning to start the post graduate courses from the next academic session.
“Once we receive the accent from the honourable Governor, we will move forward with the recruitment of all the faculty members, so that for the next academic session, atleast may be the post graduate can be started. We are planning to start atleast the post graduate courses for the next academic session,” The Education Minister said.
The Captain Williamson Sangma State University (Amendment) Bill, 2023 proposes to amend the Captain Williamson Sangma Technical University Act.
