Govt instructs officers to verify documents of all applicants for Meghalaya Govt quota of medical seats

Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that the government has instructed officers to verify the documents of all applicants for the government quota of medical seats.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “The matter was discussed with the chief minister. We sat this evening to find out whether or not to put on hold this seat allocation because if an allegation of this nature comes then that means we will have to relook at all the applications. Officers have just been instructed to verify all documents of all applicants for the medical seats from the government quota. If found, then we will also disqualify them because I am told that the same candidates had also gone to the state of Manipur to apply for these seats and the state of Manipur have actually disqualified them.”

The minister said, “Let us again look at these documents of all applicants and we are looking at this list afresh now and we will definitely not allow anybody who is not a bonafide permanent resident of the state of Meghalaya to access these very valuable seats.”

According to her, ninety-three seats have been allotted to the State of Meghalaya.

She said as per convention and practice in the past, there is a merit list and seats are distributed accordingly.
