Govt. should find out veracity of corruption charges made by opposition: Congress

Taking a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Opposition Congress spokesperson and Rangsakona Legislator Zenith Sangma said it was childish on the part of Prestone Tynsong to challenge the Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma to contest from Pynursla, his home constituency.

“When we from the opposition are showing our concern for anything which is going wrong in the state, be it corruption or any case, they (people in the government) should be serious…and try to find out the veracity of the charges. Simply refusing and challenging someone who is putting (the charges) forward to contest from his constituency, is a childish comment,” Sangma told reporters on Saturday.

Stating that cattle smuggling has been going on for a couple of years, the Congress leader however said, “Probably knowingly or unknowingly, Mr. Prestone Tynsong, the Deputy Chief Minister’s people might (also) be involved (in the illegal business).”

“When somebody is involved and he/she is charged, they are offended, they get angry very quickly. This is the reflection that we are getting from the deputy CM,” he added.
