SHILLONG, AUG 29: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday informed that the government has spent over Rs 100 crore for planting of saplings during the last five years.
Replying in the Assembly, Sangma said the plantation has been done in approximately 1.19 lakh hectares.
He also informed that there are a total of 99,78,352 number of saplings planted in the state from 2020 till June 2024.
The total number of saplings which have survived out of the above is 73,76,735, he added.
To a supplementary raised by VPP MLA from Mawryngkneng Heavingstone Kharpran, the CM said 75% is not a bad survival rate but of course the government would desire to ensure plantation of saplings achieved 100% survival.
