Govt to announce MSCPCR new president in next 10 days: Paul

The Meghalaya Government is expected to announce a new Chairperson for the Meghalaya State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) within the next 10 days. Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh stated that five names have been proposed for consideration.

“There are two steps involved: making the recommendation and then seeking the Cabinet’s final approval. We aim to finalize and approve the decision within the next 10 days,” Lyngdoh said.

The delay in appointing a new Chairperson occurred after a candidate from Garo Hills, who had initially been recommended for the position, declined the offer at the last minute. Due to this, the government is now moving forward with selecting a fresh candidate for the role.

“We should have completed it but the incumbent which we had recommended decline in the last minute,” the Minister added.
