Govt to upgrade 250 Lower Primary schools this financial year


Realising the importance of the education infrastructure in the state Government will upgrade around 250 Lower Primary schools at a budget of Rs 40 lakh for each school within this financial year.
While addressing the 49th Statehood day, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, the Government has decided to go for a massive drive to upgrade the infrastructure of the lower primary schools, upper primary schools, secondary and higher secondary schools and colleges in the state.
“Within this financial year, close to 250 Lower Primary schools will be upgraded with Rs 40 lakh of new sanction for each school,” Sangma said.
Stating that the programme will be meant to upgrade around 800 Lower Primary schools in the state, he said, “We will continue this programme to make close to 800 LP schools with brand new buildings with Rs 40 lakh budget for each one of them is what we plan to do for Education just in the LP school sector.”
“Similarly for other sectors also the investment is made to ensure that proper infrastructure is available for the education of our children,” the Chief Minister added.
