Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday said the Government of both Assam and Meghalaya are working on dates for holding the second phase of border talks.
Talking to reporters in Shillong, Chief Minister Sangma said, “I have had phone calls and a couple of telephonic conversations with Assam, we are working out the dates. Hopefully we should be able to initiate the first talk within the month of May itself.”
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya further clarified that the talks to resolve the long pending boundary dispute with Assam is a process and the Government is trying its best, however, one cannot expect everything will happen in one day.
“ We are working out on dates but as I said the good part is that since we are in direct talking terms we are talking to each other directly so we will be able to finalise the dates very soon,” the CM said.
“We have given two-three options to each other. Once we fix the exact dates I will definitely inform all of you,” he added.
