SHILLONG, MAY 17: Minister in-charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, AL Hek informed that he will take stock on the price of animal products such as beef, pork and chicken in Meghalaya.
Speaking to media persons, Hek said that the rate of animal products has increased in the state due to scarcity of imported cattle.
“Yes, I was not here for one week, so I got the information that livestock like poultry, cattle are not coming regularly from other states to Meghalaya” said Hek.
Hek said that Meghalaya depends 50% of cattle from other states but as of now there are some problems in terms of bringing cattle from other states.
He added that this problem of not getting livestock is not only Meghalaya but it is also seen in other parts of North East India.
“We have to do something, I will work it out, how we can bring the price back to normal” he added.
The minister informed that as of now the demand for animal products in Meghalaya is very high but the supply from other states is very low.
