Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Prestone Tynsong has termed “unfortunate”, the written reply of Himanta Biswa Sarma government in the Assam Legislative Assembly on Monday where he claimed Mukroh to be a part of Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district.
Talking to reporters, Tyngsong said, “Our stand is very clear Mukroh is well within Meghalaya, it is very clear and even till this moment it is under the possession of Meghalaya so it is very clear.”
In a written reply to an unstarred question by BJP MLA Bidya Sing Engleng, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Mukroh village is a part of West Karbi Anglong district.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “It’s very unfortunate that the Assam CM has claimed Mukroh to be a part of Assam. We reiterate that Mukroh is well within Meghalaya and there is no dispute about it.”
He further asked, “Why was such a statement made by the CM of Assam… I personally feel he shouldn’t have made that statement… it is very unfortunate… our stand is very clear on Mukroh.”
Asked about when Government will reconstitute the regional committees, he said, “We will work out because our priority is it has to be initiated now, we have already made it very clear to the people of the state, that the second phase of talk will stand very soon, so we will work it out.”
