According to available data, 466 children in Meghalaya are living with HIV, of whom 374 are under treatment. Among adults, 4,587 are female and 4,477 are male. Despite years of awareness campaigns, not many of Meghalaya’s population possesses comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS, as per the National Family Health Survey 2021. The persistent gap in awareness remains a major concern, highlighting the need for stronger interventions and education on HIV prevention.
