HNYM demands financial assistance to poor families affected due to lockdown

The Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) has demanded the state government to provide financial assistance to poor families whose livelihood activities have been affected due to the total lockdown imposed in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases.

In a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday, HNYM president Louis Dohtdong said, “You must provide financial assistance to the poor people as well as health care expenses…Failing to reply to us within three days, then you must hold responsible for any adversities that may prevail.”

He said the government’s decision to a total lockdown without any aids provided to the citizens of Meghalaya is an act of nuts and leading to stalemate adding this also shows that your government is as reckless as you people and care for nothing.

“It is a very sorry state of affairs that there is absolutely no effort from your government to come forward and lend a helping hand to the needy and the poor, the orphans, the widows with children and children that are still sucking milk, the farmers and those daily wage labourers. Your government seems to care none and only good for changing rules just like a changing colour chameleon.

This is an abdication of humanity in recognizing only to meet your personal needs but despise the needs of the poor people residing in Meghalaya,” Dohtdong stated.
