SHILLONG, AUG 14: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Wednesday urged the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government to resume the second phase of border talks.
The HSPDP also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma during a meeting.
HSPDP president KP Pangniang said, “…the party expresses its gratitude the bold decision taken by the MDA government under your leadership that six sectors of the century long pending unsettle dispute of interstate boundary has been materialized in 2022 and the remaining 2nd phase of the six sectors which is still pending.”
“Nevertheless, the HSPDP urges the government to resume the settlement of the 2nd phase with its Assam counterpart with immediate effect. The party is of utmost gratitude to the MDA government for tackling this unfinished task of the long standing dispute of the interstate boundary,” he said.
Pangniang said that the chief minister has assured the delegation to soon take up with the Assam counterpart for immediately resuming the second phase of border talks. According to him, the CM is likely to meet the Assam CM before the upcoming autumn session of the state Assembly.
