Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal on Thursday informed that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has submitted a report on the study related to the proposed retrofitting of the Umiam Bridge.
Speaking to reporters, Mondal said that the report is now being studied by a technical committee comprising of officials from the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) and the State Public Works Department (PWD), which was constituted to examine the matter.
“Very soon, the department will also study the report and take decision accordingly but it is moving in the right direction,” he said.
