The pro ILP pressure groups in Garo Hills on Sunday burnt the effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in front of CM Office in the Commissioner Building, Dakopgre Tura.
Amit Shah who wrapped up his two day visit to Meghalaya on Sunday, has given a cold shoulder to the civil society organizations (CSOs) who met him at the state convention centre demanding the implementation of ILP.
Shouting slogans “We want ILP,” “Amit Shah down down”, the pro ILP groups called it ‘Just a beginning’ of their protest.
Disappointed by the outcome of the meeting with Union Home Minister, President of AYWO, Sengbath Ch Marak that Shah doesn’t even care to utter a word.
“We are very much disappointed with the result and the outcome of the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and to express our disappointment we have burnt the effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in front of CM Office in the Commissioner Building, Dakopgre Tura,” Marak said.
While talk about their demand, Sengbath Ch Marak said, “We waited for three hours to meet him just to receive his ‘NAMASTE’ Gesture, We will aggressively campaign about ILP and in days to come and everybody will see that we meant business and will strive forward till our demands are met.”
Speaking about the proposed protest, the AYWO President said, “On Monday we will be holding placard campaigns tomorrow in the entire five districts of Garo Hills and we will not stop till our demands are met.”
“This is just the beginning since in the meeting he (Amit Shah) doesn’t care to respond to our submission,” he added while mentioning the series of agitation programmes lined up.
