Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, affirmed India’s robust ties with neighboring countries, emphasizing that these relationships are built on mutual respect, trade, and cultural exchange.
“India has cordial relationships with each and every neighboring country. Trade and commerce, people-to-people relations, and bilateral collaboration are always there in a very strong way. Maintaining that, and day by day, it’s growing deeper,” he stated on Tuesday in response to a query about border haats and trade relations.
He underscored India’s guiding principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world is one family. “So obviously, the relationship is always good, always cordial with each and every country because we consider ourselves to be ‘Vishwabandhu’. I don’t think there should be any new questions arising about our relations with friendly countries,” he added.
Regarding the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Margherita clarified, “It’s an international issue, and the Ministry spokesperson has issued a statement in this regard.”
It may be mentioned that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently agreed to enhance communication and cooperation to resolve conflicts and improve bilateral ties, strained since a deadly military clash in 2020. The leaders met during the BRICS summit in Russia, marking their first formal talks in five years and signaling a potential recovery in relations between the two nations.
