The Meghalaya Youth Congress today burned the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Tura. Leading a protest under #JusticeForOurDaughters #YogiResignNow by Secretary Gamrik K Sangma North Tura Assembly Youth Congress President Bryan Jabirong D Shira, South Tura Assembly Youth Congress President Shungchi Eliute T Sangma, the Youth Wing of the Congress seeks protection of women in the country.
Question lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh, Youth Congress President Richard Mrong Marak said, “Today it’s in Hathras, tomorrow it could be in your city. Today it’s someone else’s daughter, tomorrow it could be you or your daughter. If we can go out and bang thalis from our balcony for a PR show, we should surely be doing something about this, at least for the sake of our daughters.”
Demanding the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Youth Congress also alleged the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister assaulted Rahul Gandhi using his Police.
“This won’t deter the Congress, it’s only going to strengthen our resolve to fight for justice,” Marak said. They further alleged atrocities against Dalits have risen.
Referring to BJP’s 2014 general elections manifesto, the youth wing of the Congress also questioned about the saffron party’s pledge to accord the highest priority to ensuring their (SCs and STs) security, especially the prevention of atrocities against SC and STs. EOM
