Lack of communication by NTA over CUET PG exam centre irks Rakkam

Irked by the inability of National Testing Agency (NTA) to inform the Meghalaya Government well in advance about the allocation of the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) examination centres for the for Post Graduation both in Shillong and Tura, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma has expressed disappointment and said the NTA should have informed the state Government.

Talking to Mediapersons, Rakkam Sangma said, “Yes we can say (there is lack of communication between NTA and the state Government) because till now we know there are CUET centres in Shillong and Tura but NTA has not officially communicated to the state Government which institution is designated.”

“ NTA is yet to communicate to the state Government till now, but they may have informed the concerned institution but not to the state Government. I  feel the NTA should have informed the state,” he added.

Amidst the apprehension that many students will have to sit for CUET examination in the centres in Assam, the Education Minister said he has spoken over phone to NTA chairperson in this regard.

“I am not happy with what the NTA has done , we don’t know details of how many students have been allotted seats in other states to appear for the CUET examination,” Sangma said.

The chairman NTA has informed that because there is lesser number of computers, therefore, few students are allotted centres in Assam.

“Over phone I have discussed with the chairman NTA and he told me based on the number of students more centres will come up but for the post graduate, I think it’s in Shillong and Tura. He also informed me that because of less number of computers some students have been allotted in Assam,” the Education Minister said.

It may be mentioned that NEHU Shillong with 256 computers , NEHU Tura with 110 Computers , Ion Digital Zone , Garikhana Shillong with 270 Computers and Ramkrishna Mission Centre with 80 computers have been allotted the exam centres for the CUET.
