Superintendent of Police (SP) East Khasi Hills District, Sylvester Nongtnger on Monday said the law and order situation in the district is stable and under control.
Talking to Meghalaya News 24, Nongtnger said “Inspite of all these small incidents happening, yes incidents are there but as of now the law and order is stable, it’s under control.”
Stating that till now no arrest has been made neither in the petrol bomb attack that took place at Them Mawbah (Barapathar) nor in Nongmynsong incident, the SP said, “Them Mawbah (Barapathar) case is still under investigation and Nongmynsong incident happened today only and its under investigation…and we are looking into it.”
While referring to the recent sporadic incidents in the city, Nongtnger said, “We have issued various instructions to all the Officer-in-charge (OC) and Inspector-in-charge (IC) to ensure that all the vehicles should be parked in a save places specially the Government vehicles should not be parked on the road side to avoid miscreants burning down vehicles.”
“Also we have requested the DC also to issue instructions to other departments as well to ensure that the vehicles are parked in a safe place,” he added.
Asked about night patrolling the SP said, “Definitely that is a normal job, night patrolling Nakas that is the daily affairs in Shillong.”
