Mamata likely to visit Garo Hills before Christmas

All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) chairperson Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Meghalaya before Christmas.

Days after as many as 12 Congress legislators led by former chief Minister Dr Mukul sangma merged with All India Trinamool Congress, several leaders and members from Congress too joined AITC.

Presently, AITC has become  principal opposition party in Meghalaya as the dynamics of politics in the state began to change.
On Thursday, as many as 10 Congress MDCs from Garo Hills joined AITC. Recently, around six thousand Youth Congress members too joined the party.
Reacting to these joining, AITC leader Dr Mukul sangma said many will follow the trend, “You will go on seeing resigning and joining exercise over the next few months..”
As large number of leaders and members from Garo Hills are joining AITC, chances are there that Mamata Banerjee may visit Garo hills in December.
A source within the party revealed that the visit likely to be on December 22nd.
As per the initial itinerary the West Bengal chief minister might reach Assam on December 20.
Banerjee likely to visit Tripura as well. In October, AITC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee announced this during his visit to Tripura.
Banerjee is scheduled to travel to Goa along with TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on December 13 where she will primarily supervise party’s expansion and chalk out plans for the state Assembly election due in February 2022.
